Writer, Photographer, Bird watcher, Agriculturist, Publisher and what else you can expect from a person, to call him Versatile, Dyanamic, Genius? All this and many more was KP Purna chandra Tejaswi son of `Rastra Kavi`Kuvempu.
A post graduate in Kannada literature, but opted to be an Agriculturist and preferred to lead a life in seclusion, and thus settled in his Moodigere coffee estate.(Chikmagalore dist.) Reflection of his surroundings and his day to day interaction with nature can be found in his literature.
Though he was living in a corner of the world, in his sprawling 25 acre estate `Niruttara` ,far away from the buzz of modern world, he was never closed to Modern ideas, Development, and Technology. His Millennium series is a testimony to this fact. A man of simplicity and a Socialist to the core.
Another interesting facet of his personality was that, he was a good cook also. This was revealed by his wife just a day before his sad demise, in an interview to Mysuru Akashavani (Programme : Navilugari).
Some interesting titles/observations made by media in honour of this great person.

Manku Timmana Kagga by D V Gundappa which is popularly known as the` Kannada da Bhagavat Gita` was only a good book and an often quoted one by many scholars and authors, for me.
I don`t know when did i get the idea of reading it? But TN Sitaram`s tele serials ,which contained many verse from this book in its script and dialogues, strengthned my resolve to read it some day.
And finally that day came and i bought a copy of the book in the month of Oct 2006 and the book had the commentry of Venkataramanan , a great scholar , and close associate of DVG. When i started i knew this was not a book to be finished in one or two sittigs. I read it slowly so that it sinks in and I understand it.
Now after having read it,I feel its really the Kannadada da Bhagavat Gita, from the mouth of Manku timma Guru.
Dr.DVG with the knowledge of various branches of Philosophy and well read man of ancient branches of knowledge such as Vedas, Upanishad, Gita, has explained the true spirit of these scriptures in a simple and lucid manner, which can easily be understood by comman man (like me).
Most important aspect that appeals to most of the readers is the way in which he has related all these noble concepts and its adaptability in every day life . (Venkataramanan`s effort in making it easier for readers can`t be ignored.)
Throught the book he stresses on the way in which one should react and behave while going through the ups and downs of life. He never advocates renunciation , but with his simple verses he professes the concept of `Sthithaprajnatva`, and by practicing it one can perfect the art of being in materialistic world without being affected by it. You can draw inspiration from this book to make most complicated management philosophies , look simple and practice it easily.
A must read book , which one should read and read again and again.

Swami and his Friends , was the first book ,other than relating to academics, that i read in the age of 10. I was in fifth standard when my mother gave me this book , which she had borrowed from her college library. The book was a kannada translation of Swami and his Friends by Sharada prasad . As we know sharada prasad is a very famous and noted personality . He was press secretary to former Prime minister mrs. Indira gandhi.
As a boy in fifth standard i could well identify myself with Swami and experience all his joys and griefs. At that age i was wonder stuck, because swami was thinking like me and reacting to circumstances in the same way in which i was doing. I read this book on and on almost more than 25 times. Every time i finish it , i would restart it again. That is why even today, almost one and half decades later, i remember characters like Mani, Rajam, Shankara, Ebinizer, Vedanayagam and many more.
During later years i read his books like Bachelor of Arts, English Teacher. Now in hindsight i can say that book like Swami and his Friends developed in me a desire to read more and more books , including that of R K NARAYAN.
I pay my sincere tribute to this writer who made very common look like so special.

Robin sharma`s interesting book The Monk who sold his Ferari, is really an eye opener for all those who alwys depended on west for the stuffs like motivation, stop worrying, achievement etc.,
This is the westernised presentation of our Good old sayings of Upanishads. It seems YADH BHAVAM TADH BHAVATI is the one inspirational saying that has inspired Lawyer turned motivational speaker Robin sharma to pen this book. I don`t say this is a must read, but still a good book and u can profit from it.
